The original company was started in 1923 and quickly grew. In 1947 the company incorporated (DeWalt Inc) and was later bought by American Machine and Foundry and then Black & Decker. It was decided to keep the brand name DeWalt, for the professional quality high end tools.
Currently, DeWalt manufactures and sells more than 200 different power hand-tools and 800 accessories. In 1994, DeWalt took over the German wood-working power tool producer ELU. DeWalt increased their line of tools using ELU’s technology.
DeWalt is now a popular brand of tools for commercial contractors.
We have chosen to use DeWalt products for our onsite production, based on their powerful performance, tough resistance, and ability to perform well in adverse conditions. We also can’t fault their power packs. When we are out on site, particularly at Trade Shows, we’re often challenged to find power to recharge tools. Not since switching to use DeWalt!
The 54V Flexivolt battery is powerful enough to keep our team going all day, and more, and we use a lot of tools!
In April 2016, DeWalt created an Android-powered smartphone designed for building industry workers. The device costs £379, and is designed to survive a 2m drop onto concrete and can operate in temperatures ranging from −20C to 60C.
