We are really chuffed to be returning to the Farnborough International Airshow again this year, we’ve been creating stands at the show since 1990. If you haven’t been to the airshow it might be worth getting a ticket this year. FIA is a week long event in July, that combines a major trade exhibition for the aerospace industry, with one of the most phenomenal public airshows.
The show is huge and attracts around 109,000 trade visitors during the week, and 100,000 public visitors over the weekend, and although flying occurs across the whole week, the Public Air Displays are the ones that everyone talks about. You can expect impressive displays from the Red Arrows, and other spectacular teams.
Our crew are always astounded by the size of the craft that arrive at the show, and the impressive static displays of aircraft outside the booths. Its one of those events we are all keen to be part of – and delighted to be asked to return year on year!
The show originated from the RAF airshow in Hendon (1920-1937), but then after the war, (1948) the show moved to Farnborough and has been held here ever since. Looking at the aircraft back then it’s amazing to believe how far technology has advanced, even then the stunts back then were spectacular!
The show is not without drama. In 1952, 31 people were killed (twenty nine spectators, one pilot and one navigator) when a DH.110 jet fighter disintegrated and crashed into the crowd.
Yet on a happier note, there are often world records set, and in 1958 the Black Arrows executed a 22-plane formation loop. This record remains unbroken to this day – so perhaps this year we’ll see the challenge attempted!
We can’t believe our luck working with such incredible people, at extraordinary events like this year on year.
We deliver our clients an outstanding experience, not only for building their stand but also for building their reputation. Get in touch if you would like to know more!
