As we close 2017 I’m drawn to reflect on the year, and once again applaud our team for their positive attitude and professional service.
You’ll recall from my message at the close of 2016, we invested heavily in rebranding and repositioning DCE as a major player in the experiential and exhibition markets. That investment paid off, and during 2017 we were proud to be linked with mainstream brands such as Facebook, Beats, and Amazon, whether via our global Alliance partners or through developing industry relationships.
Last week we enjoyed our end of year Christmas party, and I was reminded of our strap line – “One Team, One Vision”. I watched the entire company kick back for an evening, and join forces in raising money for our charity, whilst enjoying one another’s company.
It’s key to us that we develop the harmony internally as this extends outward to our community, and our customers.
This year we raised more money for Dreams Come True (£15,000), via further initiatives, again, fully supported by our staff. LeJog was a triumph as we used exercise bicycles to cycle 1407km from Lands End to John o’Groats virtually. We raised £2000 for the charity during that week, and completed the distance in one week, which helped shift a few pounds for all of us before Christmas.
I mentioned our Partnerships.
These are one of the foundations of our 30 year success, and we are grateful that, as the market becomes tougher, and with Brexit pending, and other economic pressures in existence, it is these collaborations that strengthen our position in the industry.
Our focus this year, 2018, is to establish a foothold in the evolution of experiential environments; embrace IOT technology and it’s impact on our sector; and to increase our collaboration with exhibition organisers, agencies and leading brands.
I’m reminded of a quote by Will Durant :
“You are what you repeatedly do. Therefore, excellence aught to be a habit not an act”
Here at DCE we strive for excellence and we shall continue to make this a habit during 2018.
